Comment on Gregory Deva 60 Backpack by RJ Lewis

I own the Gregory Deva 60 2007 model- with a bad back, I had to buy a heavier, better padded pack...no "bags with straps" so to speak for me. I tried a few out, thanks to a local store, and settled with the Gregory as the most comfortable under a 30lb+ load. I try to actually only carry about 25lbs total with consumables, but it can go heavier at times. This pack is comfortable day in and day out, and I love the suspension system on it. One can tighten it down when necessary, to stop the movement, but actually one finds it quite nice, and no more "hip blisters" !! YAY! The bottom of these packs is nearly indestructible-- bomb proof as they say...after a season's use, it appears as tho it were new! This pack should last me many good years' use.
It is also versatile....I take it on weekenders, on week long hikes, and I plan on using it on a thru hike in 2009. It will definitely serve me well.

While a bit on the heavy end, at least I know I will be comfortable and happy day in and day out on the trail, and my pack will survive the trip, without my having to be ultra careful with it.

In fact, I will be buying another Gregory pack soon...perhaps a Jade 50 for my weekend jaunts!! I would also like to get a bigger pack- I'm waiting for them to come out with their new Deva 85... :D

Peace!

This pack fits great. I'm tall and trim and most packs are wider than I am. Not the Needle 65 though. I've carried it on 4 long expeditions already and it is incredibly comfortable. It is also extremely durable, just what i've come to expect from arcteryx.

The Kelty red cloud 5600 cu.in. pack is one of the best expedition packs I have ever used. It is light weight and can haul up to a 100 pounds with no problem. I have summited 6 of the worlds largest peaks with it and it is still like brand new. Kelty makes one hell of a backpack.
